WEEK 3
Focus Events in LA, Shreveport, and Sacramento
NeighborWoods Month is at the halfway point, and there are still many
ways to get involved! This week, 53 organizations will sponsor 81
events in 52 cities around the country. Week Three of NeighborWoods
Month is headlined by three events:

* Castle Heights Citizen Forestry Planting with TreePeople, 10/18, Los
Angeles, CA. This is the third event for this neighborhood and they
are looking to further improve their west side community by re-
foresting several streets, about one every 6 months.

* Greening of Grande Oaks II with Greenscape of Jacksonville, 10/18,
Jacksonville, FL. This initiative, which utilizes the concept of Crime
Prevention Through Environmental Design, is Mayor Peyton’s Growing
Great Neighborhoods partnership with residents, neighborhood
associations, business, and community and faith based leaders to drive
meaningful, measurable, and visible change.

* Oak Park Planting with Sacramento Tree Foundation, 10/18,
Sacramento, CA. This is a partnership with the CA Conservation Corps
to plant in underserved areas.

These events are just three of 400 events this month. Register your
event today or volunteer with one near you... there is at least one
event every day!
