Vibrant Cities Panel Deadline Extended
(New York, NY)- Due to strong interest, the deadline for Vibrant
Cities & Urban Forests national task force nominations has been
extended to January 10, 2011. This panel will make recommendations for
federal support of urban forestry and sustainability initiatives. ACT
encourages urban forestry nonprofit leaders to nominate themselves- as
well as colleagues from related sectors such as public health, energy,
water or transportation.

LOCAL STORY
Greening Detroit's sewers to save the environment AND money
(Detroit, MI)- Detroit is joining the ranks of major cities taking
action on stormwater management by implementing green infrastructure
improvements. Modeled on stormwater programs in Philadelphia and
Cincinnati, the City of Detroit will reduce paved areas and introduce
rain gardens, bump outs, rain barrel programs, and a tree planting
initiative in partnership with local nonprofit The Greening of Detroit.
