I think the term for is it "cynicism". I can't speak for everyone here, but as much as I would move heaven and earth for Killing Joke, if I had a dollar for every time there's been news of impending activity from the band -- only to be followed by silence and broken promises, well, suffice to say, I'd have a hefty little bundle of cash.  It's not necessarily their fault --- the band has had notoriously shitty luck with their (many) record labels, and are sadly not afforded the financial clout they so sorely deserve in order to do more. Moreover, the band *LOVES* to shroud their movements in a frustrating code of silence.

Thus, I think the prevailing feeling of the average John Q. Gatherer is to remain patiently hopeful, but to truly believe things when they see them.
