I hadn't noticed that Kazaa had died when did that happen, I only used it a
couple of days ago but of course the songs I got were 20 sec samples looped
into 5 min tracks!!

I'm very fond of Steinberg's Clean . . the anti scratch filter is really
rather good (available at you nearest "download" agent)
Another option is to use Windows default sound recorder and process the
resultant .wav file with something like Wavelab (or Soundforge, Cool Edit
etc)
When it comes to MP3 compression bigger is mostly better . . 192 is nice . .
Ooh, while we're on the subject of "download agents" (well, I was . . ) can
I do a quick advert for Shareaza (www.shareaza.com) now that Kazaa has died
it looks about the best around for general stuff (Soulseek still rules for
MP3)
