I managed to catch 999 at a 125 capacity pub venue (The Rifleman in
Hounslow) in early 2003 and yes, it was a great set. Plus I've never seen so
many empties piled up at the bar afterwards. Mind you, the place was
absolutely packed with shaven headed & beer gutted 40 year old herberts so
it's hardly surprising !

On the strength of that gig, I went online & bought "999 - The Punk Singles
1977-1980" CD compilation from Captain Oi (AHOY CD 176). Well worth a go !

999 were one of the most exciting bands for me. I can still listen to
their stuff, it seems ageless.
Me and my desire, Homicide, chicane destination, your number is my
number, i'm alive, titanic reaction, no pity and of course feeling
alright with the crew. Wow im usually shit at remembering song titles
but they just leapt out!
Ive missed them recently on tour but friends still reckoned they were
good.
You've heard it all b4 you simply cant ignore...

According to BPF, they were quite into "Emergency" by 999. And Geordie
loved Van Halen.
