You make a valid point, however I never said that you must live by any
lyric. It must be said though there is a general affinity to certain
types of music that emphasises the lyric and with lifestyle.

Im not going to sit down and listen to screwdriver sing on about white
power if I don't really consider myself a fascist with a desire to
brainwash myself that this is the way.

That to me is the difference. If I want music to escape into a security
blanket of nothing then there is plenty at my disposal or even turn on
the tv and sit in front of the cathode tube to numb the brain.

However certain types of music, I include Killing Joke, are to instigate
an emotion or educate or incite. I know many people who listened to the
doors and thought it was cool. I talked to them about the lyrics and
they didn't have a clue about them. Fair enough but if you read into the
doors you realise why they were at the forefront of popular culture at
that time. The lyrics were part of that.

So I get disappointed when reality smacks me in the face and people who
claim to be involved in what I loosely refer to the punk scene are only
part of it to create an identity around themselves in order to fit in.
As you demonstrate everyday peter, f*ck fitting in.

So what was the bankrobber song about taking in its consideration the
time and company Joe Strummer was keeping?

As to number ones, who gives a flying f*ck if something is measured in a
certain way as if to indicate popularity?
