Peter, stop sitting there with your finger up your arse, expecting everyone else to do something for you. There's other parties to choose from, there's even direct action, but you're  just spouting that nothing can be done, and saying there is no point. 
I think a big problem is most people in the UK and US are very much stuck with an outmoded nationalistic mentality. You've mentioned you want to vote for someone who is good for your 'country', but to me you seem pretty isolated from whatever that country of yours is supposed to represent.
