Compare with "Slug Bait" from TG's _2nd Annual Report_.
Apart from a few Merzbow records that are probably more imposing and
threatening than actually scary, I would nominate _As the Veneer of
Democracy Starts to Fade_ by Mark Stewart among the scariest records I
know. Or THAW by Foetus.
As an aside, anyone here into a band called Opeth? I'd be curious to
know about some similar metal with strong musicianship, but less
pastoral. The quiet parts do contribute a contrast that works to good
effect, in that the balls-out, heavy sections seem even that much
louder. I could suggest the last few Opeth CDs to anyone who likes
both early Floyd and Napalm Death -- though might want to listen
first.
