hmm - doesn't suprise me too much
the last thing he did which was of any musical merit was 20 mothers. Shame really as he seems an all round top geezer, a fine writer and someone with impeccable musical taste but whose own musical outpourings falls so far short of his heroes

I know that there are a few Julian Cope fans around these parts and wondered if anyone else has got hold of the new Cope album Citizen Cain'd and, like me, found it to be a huge disappointment.
After waiting so long for a new "proper" album, this one is pretty shoddy.
It sounds like one half baked, chucked together collection of badly recorded songs. The last proper album was interpreter which was great. Since then there have been lots of Cope "projects" in which he indulged in his fantasies, sometime producings some great work along the way.
But this is truely badly put together, right from the awful artwork. It's on his own Head Heritage label and I wonder of it would have ever seen the light of day if it wasn't.
Think carefully before parting with your hard earned.
SadBob.
