My first album was Damaged by Black Flag but my first
actual exposure to punk was a mix tape that my
friend's thrash metal older brother had. It had Black
Flag, the Meatmen, GBH, Wasted Youth, Minor Threat and
Dead Kennedys. I was pretty enthralled and loved it
(well, mainly Black Flag and DK) right away. I also
got Never Mind the Bollocks shortly afterwards and
loved that too. This was around 1989/90 - way after
the hayday of all these bands. But it was brand new to
me and my metalhead leanings.
