The Ants weren't always cheap pop! Dirk Wear White Sox was a very dark, bleak album and Kings only became pop when people made it popular. Prince Charming was and will always remain a bag o' shite though.

The early Ants were an influence on the Joke withe Zerox and Physical being cited by Jaz.
