To add a wrinkle to the discussion about bands with multiple drummers and
bassists:
About a decade ago, King Crimson recorded and toured with what they called a
double trio. Two drummers, two bass players and two guitarists.
We've already decided KJ's two drummers and two bass players, however, I
think the best way to pass time at work today is to DECIDE WHO THE SECOND
GUITARIST WILL BE.
It’s late, and I’ve worn myself out coming up with the question,
so I’ll start things off with a somewhat unimaginative choice: Daron
Malakian of System of a Down. I had no beef with Geordie’s heavy hand
on ‘03, however, in this setting, the shredding could be handed off to
Malakian to allow Geordie to get really wide and chiming into infinity.
Malakian’s Armenian ethnic influence could also mesh well with the
occasional exotic edges of the Joke’s music.
Next . . .
