[kj] Tribal Freedom

I've banged-on about this myself before - for my tastes, it's only the
production
that lets it down.

I don't "hate" the album. I just find it very
hard to listen to. The production, to my ears,
is abyssmal. I can understand how it sounds good
in a car (mentioned in a thread months ago).
I could imagine that road noise would help mask
all that midrange mess and make it an awesome
album to drive to.

I've been flirting with dumping it into DP5 and
try to do some EQ'ing to make it less muddy/murky.
Just haven't gotten around to it.

I like Hosannas better than Outside The Gate but
it is no S/T or What's This For...and I did like
Democracy.

...and on the subject of remasters, is the plan
still and Geordie remixed / remastered BTATS?
Would be interesting...(though I'm not sure what
could be done to A Southern Sky...a little cringe-
worthy...)

Thing is, I just don't get it; I don't understand why some
gatherers think Hosannas is so bad. I'm listening to a
career-spanning CD I made right now and the Hosannas
tracks sit perfectly, mixed up with everything else. Nothing to make
you think, Ooh, this must have been their shit period.
Judas Goat? Stunning. Invocation, Majestic (which has a
*very* Firedances-y section in it), Lightbringer, Walking With Gods -
fantastic stuff. Dripping with the essence of Killing Joke.
Implosion would have sat comfortably on Extremities. Like
I say, I Just. Don't. Get. It. I hope for your sakes it isn't their
last.

Korn? Christina Aguliria? Have you been frozen in ice since 1999 or
something? Hosannas is a horrible album by a once great band. Every band
starts to suck eventually. Unless they call it quits first. It's hard to
come to terms with the eventual suckitude but, darnitall, it's the right
thing to do.

You mean to like Korn or like Christina Aguilera standards?

Hosannas was great. One of the Top 10 LPs of 2006, in any event.
