It's invariably an inexact science, Brendan. Choose whom you want to  
believe and go with that. I don't think it's as crass as McLaren  
wanting to specifically cater to an audience for the almighty pound  
note (despite the whole "Cash From Caos" shtick), but he was  
certainly inspired by what he'd encountered in NYC. For all intents  
and purposes (GET READY, BRITS), McLaren projected his own  
interpretation of what Richard Hell was already doing onto the future  
`Pistols.
