I've seen the video of that show. He plays for about 10 minutes then walks down the Manhattan streets almost buck naked until a few helpful fans find him some shit to wear. Camera follows him the whole time until he jumps in a cab with some people and is driven away to his doom. What a dickhead for not making good on his promise and offing himself onstage.

I actually had the opportunity to go see him perform at a now-long-defunct venue in the East Village called The Gas Station (this was years and years ago, obviously). Because I'm such a pussy, however, I relented, and my friend Steve went. That ended up being GG's final show -- EVER -- as he shuffled off this mortal coil later that very night from an overdose.


Like him or hate him, I cannot recommend the documentary "Hated" about dear, departed GG enough. Comedy? Tragedy? High Art? Abject degradation? You decide.

I think the fact that people still talk about him and discuss his worth means that he won in the end though
