[kj] Nik & Mrs Fiend write "ALIEN SEX FIEND CELEBRATE 25th ANNIVERSARY"

shaun shaun23 at ukf.net
Sat Jan 6 07:53:48 EST 2007

For anyone is intersted or doesn't know about this show next weekend.
Thought I'd post it to spread the word.

ALIEN SEX FIEND CELEBRATE 25th ANNIVERSARY
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
------
- Nik & Mrs Fiend write
We just had our record label, 13th Moon Records, 10th year anniversary &
now we have yet another anniversary coming up to celebrate!

Alien Sex Fiend was first formed in 1982, which will be 25 years ago
next year (2007). How the hell that happened - we don't know!! We're
astounded that we're still here with marbles intact (well just about!)
It's scary, amazing & brilliant all at the same time! We had planned to
do some shows in 2007 & 2008 to celebrate our 25th anniversary year
running across our first meeting, first demos, the first gig & first
single release etc, but the London, Belgium & Paris shows ended up
happening a bit earlier than anticipated due to demand. They would NOT
wait any longer!

So our celebrations will now start off with these first 3 shows. LONDON
will be very special because Koko is the new name for the Camden Palace,
a venue that witnessed some legendary early Alien Sex Fiend shows, so we
decided to return to kick off the party from there. Nostalgic ol'
buggers ain't we??? !! heh heh... And as for BELGIUM & FRANCE - well we
ain't been out THAT way for a goodly while.....

The shows will be a hoot cos we'll be doing songs from our very
beginning right up to date.... sort of a Greatest Hits show if you will.
Don't expect an evening of regurgitated records - you should know us
better than that! the songs will be attacked & mutilated in full-on
fiendish fashion! The space cadets aka our crew are as excited as us at
the prospect of getting back on the road - & a big up to 'em all for
their loyalty over the years...

And after these shows.... ? Well, plans are afoot for further fiendish
frolics so stay tuned to this fiend channel....

LIVE SHOWS ANNOUNCED FOR 2007!

Hollywood Babylon is on my iPod in my car with the rest of my KJ music.
So many other non-Gathering folks have heard it as well.

I love Newtown Neurotics, for what's it worth. Great lyrics, like Crisis
(the Holocaust Hymns retrospective is great). Both excellent bands in
their day. Death in June suck 96% of the time.

That's for damn sure. I managed to catch Zombi along with Maserati just over
a month ago and it was an amazing show. Fans of both prog-rock and Dario
Argentio/Goblins type soundtrack stuff should give Zombi a listen.

I personally feel sorry for anyone who hasn't heard Miss Alex White &
the Red Orchestra (s/t LP) or World Burns to Death (Totalitarian Sodomy
and/ or The Sucking of the Missile Cock LP.) Jay Reatard's _Blood
Visions_ debut LP from Sept. is also excellent.

Top 10 2006 LPs for sure.

Soulseek it all if you have to. Or keep listening to Pearl Jam and Red
Hot Chili Peppers, Tool, etc.

Tragedy don't have a street team. They have their own label, Tragedy
Records, and believe it or not fans like me support them because they
like them. They aren't affiliaed with big labels, etc. There's such a
thing a being a fan of a ban and also being able to call other bands
when they do obvious rip offs. Thet;r super-DIY, not an a small league
major label.

See, I still love Killing Joke. But Tragedy don't have a "street team"
or any other trend-chasing weasel a"wanna get hyped" sort of thing going on:

Nice snapshot of Van Halen; would've loved to have seen that, especially as
I bought the album as soon as it came out the following year.

It's impossible to pick out one single Wizard album as they are all - in my
opinion - outstandingly brilliant and should be judged as one single body
of work, even if they are diverse from one another in the extreme. However,
if forced to recommend an 'initiation' (well chosen word there!) I would say
give Dopethrone a shot followed by Come My Fanatics. It seriously helps if
you smoke weed, which sounds dead corny I know but you'll see what I mean.
Loud and late at night, preferably on your own - then you should see what
the fuss is all about. Live they are immense, even without Mark Greening's
drumming and Tim Bagshaw's evil bass. But check out Cathedral too; the last
album Garden of Unearthly Delights is total genius.

Is the Lamb of God vocalist a junkhead? that would be reason enough to push
the eject on the guy.

Cheers,
Bob
