I'm saving my dancing shoes for someone else
Whilst I can't say I would celebrate any death I also cannot equate
popularity with talent (if that were the case Roy "Chubby" Brown would be
Prime Minister) . . Bernard Manning was a mediocre comedian who tapped into
the inherent racism of a generation . .

Because, he was racist but bloody popular - what does that say about society
in the 70's (at his peak)?? I don't dance on anyone's grave.......

IMHO he was a very funny comedian who didn't give a shit about what anyone
thought about him. He was entitled to his own opinion whether you agree with
it or not and entitled to say it. If you take away that right just to be
politically correct I'm not sure where we would be. Probably with us smokers
outside without any fair debate. I would have thought that Jokers would not
condemn so quickly. Hey, but I'm wrong again about jokers. Not willing to
live and let live, so go on flame me, but it's not what I thought the joke
was about. I liked the guy. I may not have agreed with his opinions but he
had the right to have opinions that were different to mine. But finally, so
say it's good news that anyone is dead is just sick!

A 'controversial' British comedian generally labelled as a racist for the
jokes he told although he always denied being so.
On the flip side, he regularly gave thousands to a variety of charities in
particular disabled, disadvantaged or terminally ill children.
In the latter part of his life he spent a great deal of time in his
underpants: "a man needs to feel comfortable" he once told an interviewer.
Whether that sentiment ever extended to anyone sharing the same room is
debatable.
Oppression and restriction, regulation rule and law,
