Father and daughter killed in Thursday vehicle collision

A 35-year-old Thorndale man and his 6-year-old daughter died from their injuries Thursday evening after the car they were traveling in collided head-on with another vehicle on Texas 79 two miles east of Thrall in Williamson County, according to a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

Joe Edward Mojica was traveling east on Texas 79 with his daughter, Jeanie Mojica, when his 1993 Honda Accord moved into the westbound lane, officials said. The Accord struck a 2002 GMC Sierra, killing Mojica instantly at around 5 p.m. 

The 6-year-old girl, Jeanie Mojica, was taken to Brackenridge Hospital where she later died from her injuries. 

The driver of the GMC, Garland Eugene Miller, 49, of Elgin, was taken to Brackenridge Hospital with minor injuries, according to a DPS dispatcher. The passenger in his car, Richard Perkins, also had minor injuries. 

As of 6:30 a.m., Miller was listed in stable condition at Brackenridge. Perkins' condition was not immediately known Friday morning. Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, the dispatcher said.
