My latest rev of Toast is version 8. It does not do de-cryption. You
need Mac The Ripper for that.
Cinematize is another great product. It lets you pull scenes, chapters,
menus, etc individually -- again, once the disk has been decrypted.
There's a Pro version that's quite reasonable ($130).
If you need to use dvd clips to re-edit and make into a new video,
google up a free utility called MPEG Streamclip, which lets you convert
from VOB to any flavor of Quicktime or other editable video format. It
also lets you extract the audio from an MPEG file, which is otherwise
impossible because (let me adjust my geekster propeller beanie here) the
audio and viedo tracks are interleaved together (aka "muxed"). E.g., if
you try to export an MPEG from the QT player, you'll get a silent
movie. So you can export the MPEG as QT from MPEG Streamclip and take
it from there, or just export the audio if that's all you're interested in.
I don't know of anything similar in the PC world, but I'm sure there
must be something at this point. Sure is easy in MacLand, though... ;)
