The optimistic way to look at it is that we are "passionate" cultural 
consumers, devotees who enjoy "spirited" and "lively" exchanges, the way 
French gourmands debate the qualities of some wines versus others.

The pessimistic way to look at it is that we can be petty, 
foul-tempered, overweening bitches!
