You know, actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Radiohead heard Fugazi.
Why? I was surprised when I caught some brief interview with Radiohead
and a couple of members of the band said their favorite band was --
Magazine! The old Brit post-punk band with Howard Devoto and I think a
couple of members of PiL and Siouxsie and the Banshees went through its
rotating doors. Not one of the most well known bands (undeservedly), so
I was shocked.
But, to Shit Slinger, I mean Flight Bringer's, comment, I also doubt
Radiohead are "imitating" Fugazi. I suppose I'm slightly annoyed that
the media lavishes attention on bands who forego major labels when the
band is "important" to Top 40 charts but routinely ignore folks who've
ethically done it from the beginning. However, from a music industry
standpoint, I can see why this news would matter, because if it's the
beginning of folks jumping off a sinking ship, it'll change the music
industry even moreso than the Internet has.
