I disagree on 2 points: First, the problems are all very closely related, so they probably have to be adressed in relation to each other. Second, there is at least 1 thing that justifies fighting back (even among teenagers): racist attacks.

Yes, but whatever the circumstances , these six kids put one other kid in hospital and they must be prosecuted . If the issues you stated below are a problem, then these problems must be addressed separately, it doesn't give people a right to go around battering other people , just because they have some grievances  .      If people take the law in to their own hands , then they will face the consequences .    There is nothing that can justify six kids putting another one kid in hospital .

I think Petie West needs to take a "Holiday in the Sun" in New Zealand--he'd be in the slammer before even making it out of the airport (assuming he was already online)> BTW, the Jena 6 kids1. Had their sentences overturned and reduced to attempted  battery or the like2. At least one of them was beaten up for attempting to go to a "white" party the night before3. Were all taunted w/racial slurs--that's why they beat up that kid4. The racist kid who was beat up went to a church function that same night--hardly a victim of attempted murder, etc. 5. The tree in question had historically been a place where only whites could go, due to racist intimidation, until one black kid sat there...Learn all the facts please before you rattle on!

It’s illegal to incite racial hatred in NZ, not sure about elsewhere.

Oh yeah.....I misread it . But if they did give a White boy a battering because of his colour , then they deserve their  punishment all the same .    Its not illegal to put a noose in a tree (however unsavoury it is) , but it is illegal to physically harm someone. They should be punished.

Six teenagers carried out a racial killing and so should face the consequences and if the local punishment is hanging , then so be it. Where is the so called injustice that all the protesters were marching about , were they marching in order to free the six murders and then so make racial killings legal ?
