If you have the required equipment (LCD or Plasma) and the money, then yes...if not then well it offers a new level of experience in the form of each car has totally realistic suspension, city realism...but yep you go on and complete missions the same (as fun but more complete)....but multiplayer is also where its all about (then again requiring a decent internet connection).
If you are however in the market for a new console right now, there are some great bundles, apparantly Woolworths are doing the Xbox 360 Arcade pack for £159 with GTA 4 and the Xbox 360 premium with GTA 4 for £199 (as are Play.com and if you use the copon code right now "experience8" without the inverted commas, you save 5% on that uptil the 31st May! making it £189!)

I have great fun playing GTA3 with my daughter. GTA4 would require a new console, though, as we only have an Xbox (rather than a 360). Is it really, really worth it?

Well all the hype surrounding GTA 4 is warranted, it *is* the greatest video game in history, at least technically, and also to my surprise one of the many radio stations "Liberty City Radio Electro Choc" happens to feature KJ's "Turn To Red"!
