Which goes to show what a pain in the arse it is.  I've got CDs, DVDs,
vinyl I no longer want, but what a pain in the arse all that weighing
and trips to the post office.  I have sold stuff before and
underestimated the postage (to Australia etc), an made very little
profit.
 
Unless it's recently released or rare I've found that I can't sell
anything anyway.  No point in listing half the stuff I want rid of
because the place is saturated with the same crap (serves me right for
buying crap, I know).  It is a buyers market these days.

ALWAYS REGISTER WHAT YOU SEND.
 
First thing I ever sold is SUPPOSED to have been lost in the post, as
the buyer reckoned he didnt get it, having paid for it.  So in the end
he got his cash back and I got compensation from the Post Office, so
everyone was happy.
 
Over here its registered or signed for.  That kind of thing, tracking
number etc.  Thy shalt not trust the postal services.
 
ALWAYS WEIGH YOUR GOODIES INDIVIDUALLY AND GET THE POSTAGE RIGHT.
 
...and add a few cents, pennies, Euro's etc...

MAKE A GOOD JOB OF WRITING A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU ARE SELLING.

It really sells it.  Really!
 
MAKE A GOOD JOB OF PACKING YOUR GOODIES FOR POSTAGE.
 
...so they can't moan it got damaged etc.

	I heard on the news just the other day that eBay will be
changing that policy. The new scheme would be no listing fees, but a
slightly higher percentage of the final sale. Similar to Amazon. Check
to be sure that I heard right and see when they implement the new
pricing scheme.
	
	I've sold a few things in the past and my only bad experience
was my own naivete when it came to estimating shipping cost. I ended up
stating a fixed shipping cost that would cover my expenses, but forgot
to factor in overseas bidders. I ended up with little profit on that
sale.
	
	As a buyer I'd suggest that you keep the initial bid fairly low
and let the market drive the price up. I generally pass on bidding on
items with a high opening bid, even if it's a price I'd be willing to
pay. Purely psychological I suppose, but you see it live auctions too.
I'd also suggest keeping shipping charges at your cost. I know I don't
like to see that the seller is obviously trying to make money off of
that part of the sale. Put your "buyers" hat on and most of the things
to do or not do will be obvious to you.
