I've had the good fortune to catch Jane's Addiction 8 times times since 1988
including several key shows that they professionally recorded and/or filmed.
I was at one of the shows at the Henry Fonda Theater that they filmed in
'89, the Hollywood Palladium show in 1990 and their last Irvine, CA
Lollapalooza show in '91 that several live songs wound up on their "Kettle
Whistle" compilation album, the San Francisco "ENIT" festival show in '97
(absolutely amazing night, btw) that footage wound up on their "Three Days"
movie and their '03 New Year's Eve show at The Wiltern in LA that a couple
songs wound up on their bonus dvd for the "Strays" cd. I also had the
"luck" to catch the infamous Hollywood Bowl show in 2001 where Courtney Love
ruined a planned Porno For Pyros reunion because she wouldn't leave the
stage after her opening set, thus delaying roadies from clearing her band's
gear and setting up Jane's stage for almost an hour.
BTW, good news for Jane's fans, drummer Stephen Perkins is supervising a
major box set that will include a ton of live footage from their entire
career for a late '08 release.
Also, don't be surprised if they don't reunite once again and tour within a
year's time. Both Perry Farrell's "Satellite Party" and Dave Navarro's
"Panic Channel" bands have not surprisingly disintegrated.
