It has something to do w/the Rastafarian religion. I think they make a connection between the "Lost tribes of Israel" or something, and the displacement of blacks from Africa (to Jamaica and elsewhere). In fact there's a prominent reggae group called Israel Vibrations. It is a pretty odd religion that pulls ideas from different religions--not to mention promotes pot smoking, not cutting of hair, and promotes both "back to Africa" ideology and multi-racial unity...
