"Punk" was someone who took it up the ass, yes. There's a great
anecdote about when Wayne Kramer of the MC5 was in jail (for drugs,
naturally) in the late 70s, and suddenly all these music magazine are
citing him as a "punk progenitor," and he was terrified and flushing
every available copy in the prison down the toilet just to protect his
vulnerable backside.
