Yeah, but it is fucking brilliant that the makeup gets progressively more mangled on his face as he is bashed into things, etc.  The makeup starts out fairly "typical" looking for the Joker, and then degenerates.  Genius.  Jack Nicholson had no idea.  That is the concept of anarchy.  That guy (Heath Ledger) had something.  And I sure as fuck ain't givin' him some hero worship or whining that he died at a young age.  He just got the concept.
