"If you are and artist or musician, there is a very damaging piece of legislation in the works right now that concerns your own work. As I understand it, it benefits the corporation and hurts the artist. Basically everything you've ever done will now need to be registered with a private copyright company for a fee to gain any sort of copyright protection. That means every song, painting, sketch, script, photo. Everything. Anything not registered is fair game, and a corp. could claim it to be orphaned work, and register it themselves and own your ideas/efforts for free.A few copyright houses stand to make a lot of money, and so do the corporations that already take advantage of the artist. This legislation will also have a ripple effect, as similar legislation is being considered in Europe. If your artistic efforts are important to you, please take a minute to to contact your rep. or at least read about the issue. It only takes a few seconds:"
