I personally think the idea that the US's position will decline that much
is a bit premature (despite how bearish I am overall). I know people are
slowly moving towards holding more Euro as foreign reserves etc, and China
and Russia are coming up, relatively speaking...but, if you look a bit
deeper at it, China and Russia are both up serious shit creek themselves.
Russia doesn't let on about it so much but the credit crunch is nailing
them hard, and the Chinese administration is going to come under huge
stress as their growth slows. And it's really gonna slow, because all
their export markets are drastically reducing their consumption.
And the US is still such a massive economic powerhouse, with a military
second to none.
