For sure Billy don't get the respect he deserves for the early Cult material.

I recently saw a gretsch guitar company interview with billy duffy and he
mentioned brian setzer with the stray cats in the UK in '79 as being his
influence to pick up a gretsch.
As far as comparison of sound and look of billy to Geordie - it is a
question - I am not sure the gathering as ever been able to answer.
Does anyone remember when billy first pick up the gretsch and combed his
hair in a blonde pompadour? Was it before 82 when Geordie returned from
Iceland with his similar new sound and look?
-----------
BTW, I'm probably stating the obvious, but did Billy Duffy of The Cult ever
-cite Geordie as a big influence because he certainly nicked Geordie's basic
tone down to playing a somewhat similar kind of guitar (Gretsch) and maybe
even Geordie's look during The Cult's Dreamtime/Love era.
T.B.
