Personally I'd prefer to have someone with compassion and awareness in
charge, Obama is a wolf in sheep's clothing to me.he's feeding massive
amounts of money back into the financial system (in arbitrary amounts, as
anyone who follows this is aware), to the very same people who caused the
problems, the ones who are "too big to fail" - without even the proviso that
they are split up properly. 

 

The Glass Steagal act that was enacted post the Great Depression was
specifically designed to prevent a recurrence of same - one of the main
pillars was the separation of commercial / retail, and investment banks.
Under Clinton then Bush that all came crashing down, and we ended up with
financial giants with fingers in every pie imaginable.such that when the
risky investments collapsed, they dragged down big chunks of consumer
savings and loans with them.

 

You'd think if the taxpayer was burdened with footing the repair bill for
the financial system, that we could at least stipulate some conditions such
as the re-introduction of the bill and some others to cover the arcane
derivative markets, a higher ratio of fractional reserve (currently well
below 10% in many cases), higher capitalisation and transparency for loans,
perhaps even a change to the way the central banking model works etc.but no.
First thing Obama does is start shovelling money to the banks with no such
provisos, as quick as he can, and putting Wall St failures in charge in his
govt.

 

And a personal observation I have made in the last few days - what does the
media concentrate on? His fucking wife, and Sarkozy's wife, what they're
wearing, and their interactions with the fucking Queen.what a 3-ring circus
distraction.

I just wanted to point out that President Obama said he would not renew the
tax cuts that the Bush Administration gave to the top 1%.  He is simply
going to let them expire (2010, I believe).  He has been consistent with
this statement throughout his campaign and presidency.  Believe me, I would
have thrown 'em out the first day, and I do not think Obama is the greatest
hope for humanity.  However, letting them expire shows he is  addressing the
issue in a way that will cause the least amount of chaos.  He must be a good
Chess player.
