I give Pilger a huge amount of respect for his stuff on Cambodia, Year Zero, Pol Pot, etc.  He came to talk at my school around that time (late 79, I guess) and was fascinating...



Whether you agree with his politics or not, he's clearly a man of considerable physical and moral courage.  I wish we had more journalists like him.

Pilger has a ton of honourary degrees and awards for his investigative
ournalism, if you read one of his books such as The New Rulers of the
orld you'll see why. Highly recommended. His style does run to polemic,
ut IMO it's hard not to when talking about cynical manipulators and power
ongers who use such eloquent and effective PR to cover up atrocities. I
hink the same could be said for Noam Chomsky and Robert Fisk, who always
ome to mind when I think of Pilger. i.e. the cream of the crop in that
ield.
