Actually, I like U2. The reissues of the first three albums were among my top buys last year. Been waiting for “A Celebration” on CD for ages.
 
There’s something really absurd about U2 that appeals to me. Adam’s perm on the cover of my favourite album of theirs, “October” (although less so his genitalia on “Achtung Baby”). The Enossifications (I love Brian Eno). “Bullet The Blue Sky”.
 
Don’t like “Pop”, though. When they’re not proselytising, they are capable of writing excellent pop songs.
