I don't think the article was denying that his metamophosis was his own (or not influenced by his family), but everyone's 'own' ideas don't come from a vacuum--they are influenced by socieity, family, Killing Joke albums (hopefully), etc.

Don't know what paper that is from, but I've heard that argument, also. Afraid I can't buy into it. Jackson's sick metamorphosis is his own -- of course, a miserable family upbringing didn't help things, either.

Someone wrote an article in my commie party's newspaper about MJ. They attributed all his plastic surgery/skin changes to racism--in that he was influenced by racism to look white. THey also pointed out that he had been turned into the ultimate commodity by the entertainment industry, and even stated in a recent interview that he only felt comfortable on stage...
