thanks for the references. still reads to me that OTG started life as a
fully fledged KJ album.

IIRC from interviews at the time, it was some kind of Jaz project where the
guys played but after fighting with Jaz either or both of the 2 Pauls
refused to have their names on it and basically ordered to Jaz to remove the
names (for sure Raven did, acc. to Raven). It was all repackaged as KJ by
The (Music) Man in order for The Man to recoup the costs of the album - so i
guess all their names went back on it for that reason(?)
(but don't take my word for it, see for yourself here:
http://www.anirrationaldomain.net/articles/1987-1991/87index.html )
Ha ha,I am just noticing now how beautiful it is, the irony of it all
that after OTG, KJ turned around and recorded EDVRE in no time at all and
for almost next-to-nothing cost and it turned out ot be one of their best
and most definitive albums ever.
Anyone know offhand how long EDVRE did take to record, was it a week, or
just under 2 weeks or... ?

Yeah, I've wondered that as well. I tend to think that it was an
after-the-fact attempt at distancing themselves from a turd. But
occasionally I wonder if it really was a Jaz solo album - perhaps especially
in terms of composition - and the Pauls just got roped in to playing 'cos
they happened to be available.

I've always been puzzled by the assertion that OTG was not meant to be a
KJ album. How come the 2 Paul's play on the demo versions of the tracks
then?

I was the first to say, KJ sans Jaz, no way. I'll be the first to agree,
OTG IS shit. They have all but acknowledged that, and bearing in mind
the fact that it was never intended by the band to be a fully fledged KJ
album, I ignore it and don't let it stain their rep at all.
Ade you going to download festival? Just saw the line up...sheesh. Some
great stuff there. FNM would be up your alley innit? You can go and
check out Chris Cornell's saggy tits too.
