[kj] KJ at Blackpool Punk Fest! Aug.9th

Well this is the thing, there are always some great bands playing, but for
me the whole event is just fucking horrible. I've been twice, it's not just
armchair criticism! As someone still involved in the "punk scene" (don't
laugh now!) this event is so far removed from what I'm into... it's just
fucking sad to witness! Is THIS what it's become?!! (quite possibly, yes!)
So if I'm being unkind, you'll see Killing Joke surrounded by pricks
that've spent two days spiking their mohawk JUST RIGHT, (cos, well THAT'S
what it's about eh?) wondering who the hell this Joke band is, and when are
Riot Squad coming on (even though it's just the drummer now, and 3 of his
mates from the pub)... never mind though, you'll have over-priced piss
lager to drink (most of the others will just throw it, mind) as you try and
work out what Killing Joke song it is due to the awful boomy sound... But
hey... look it's loads of right-wing skins coming in now, cos the festival
doesn't mind putting on rather dodgy bands too... let's face it, half of
them ain't getting paid so it's no big deal.
On the other hand, I don't really care ;)
Anyway, there will be other KJ gigs so I'll just go to them instead! Like
Jo mentioned, the Forestry Commission gigs sound great... was there not a
problem with Motorhead killing the forest each time though? ;)
