Bongo: <<< but never liked the song 'lullaby' !>>>
The extended 12" of that is my absolute favourite Cure song and in certain
moods will bring me to tears.
Bongo: <<< around the time 'wish' came out i had given up on the cure and
turned more towards american thrash/hardcore >>>
Me too, hardcore/industrial etc. Got snobby with my music tastes to keep in
line with my friends. That embarrasses me now - how stupid. Now I don't
care what music I like or who knows it. Got back into The Cure in 2004.
Like being re-united with a lost love. Ahem.
Peter: <<< I loved pretty much everything they did up to and including
Disintegration even The Lovecats :o). >>>
YAY!

mine first exposure was similar, 'in between days' on tv, i was HOOKED!
bought 'the head on the door' immediately (85 or 86?) and the tshirt with
them in colourful faces, which i wore non-stop and still have in a bag in
the shed somewhere...!
didn't mind 'disintegration' at the time, still like it alot now, but never
liked the song 'lullaby' !
around the time 'wish' came out i had given up on the cure and turned more
towards american thrash/hardcore (cryptic slaughter, dri, etc etc etc)
pissed off that i've missed the cure everytime they've toured nz tho... =(

My earliest memories of The Cure:
Wathcing Lullaby on television (was no 1 or 2 for several weeks) - I thought
Bob Smith was gay and the song was about his fight against rising feelings
of gayness (gaydom?), personified by a spider / spider web.
