It's just like their 2 1970s albums, only better songs, better production, better lyrics, better playing--it rules!

CD alert!
The new Meat Puppets (2nd album after a 7 year hiatus) is reasonably hot;
The new NEW YORK DOLLS is, like their last one, amazing! (sounds just like their 70s stuff)
Then again, my opinion doen't mean shit since I missed the last Damned show in the US!

There's a bit on the new album that reminded me of Black Moon... I'd have to say I'm not totally sold on it, and have never been a huge Manics fan although I've really liked a handful of tracks over the years and do think their recent work like Send Away The Tigers and in particular Lifeblood were quite good.
I'm surprised actually at how much I've listened to Lifeblood....

Fuck me. That sounds like a recommendation tailored specifically to me. I’ll investigate it on the basis of that review, as Cameron is rarely unreliable. If he has made me buy a recent Manics album under false pretences, however, I will be cross.

Out of interest...
In the current issue of Mojo, Keith Cameron - a writer I usually trust
to speak sense - says the new Manics album has "echoes of Magazine, the Banshees,
Killing Joke, the Skids.." and throws PiL and Jesus Lizard comparisons in there also.
