I wonder what kind of education or worldly experience (aka University of Hard-Knox) the guys in The Clash had? I've never looked into it.
Their lyrics sound smart and insightful, but the image to non-connoisseur is that they were but talented street urchins borderline-ruffians, or so i gathered (a looonng time ago..) from the cd liner of their 2-cd hits set.

i met joe strummer 1978 oct at bath pavillion,bath u.k after there gig-back stage,found him to be a very intelligent and intersting human beeing and paul simmion/topper were just cute ;)
