Interesting story. Most people will only remember "People Who Died," (one of the premier nihilist songs ever), but he was much than that.

  You know I have his album "Catholic Boy" from The Jim Carroll Band since I was 12, and I first heard him on KROQ radio in 1980. He is one of my favorite poets and even got to see him perform poetry and read from short stories for free at UCLA in the early 90's. I should have went up to him for only one girl did, but I was a bit shy. Most of the crowd was UCLA students and we seemed to be the only punks. He was a crack up though! RIP JC.
