Well, they didn't get it right with the movie and they didn't get it right with the made-for-TV miniseries, so I think maybe they should admit defeat.

I wouldn’t mind seeing David Lynch have another stab at it, this time without selling out and fucking it up royally. Both of which he admits he did.
