I kinda agree with both of you.
I once saw Boy George (the only 'big name' did I ever did saw) ) do a set at a [coughs..] Cambridge May Ball ("hoorah! hoorah! We're going to thrash the oiks!") & it was mesmerising.
Kinda surreal too - a lot of twits in black tie "gettin' down" before they went for roast pig
