Its not too difficult is it.

I believe its one of the few things that is easier than it sounds .

For Example:

 

  January : Record album in studio

 February : Get it mixed

 March:     Organise tour to coincides with album release .Announce tour dates

April :      Get album packaged and ready

May :   Release single 

June :   Release album and tour .

 

 They've had 30 years and 13 albums to perfect this .

I reckon that the reason is that they get free publicity.
Tour announced: People buy tickets
Tour cancelled: Publicity for tour and people keep tickets.
New tour dates announced : Publicity and more people buy tickets .
