[kj] Don't Book Anything

Peter LAMB Peter.Lamb at nottingham.edu.cn

Got some news from a Joker in Prague who's been in touch with Jaz. Don't book anything is what Jaz has said.

Well pissed off....

Had some up with a great excuse to get out of work. I work in China. Flights are not cheap. Nevermind trains and accommodation.

I got ripped off with the Gems of Power. So not too happy about the slackness in them getting something definitive out to us.

i'm curious how the guitar will sound in a cleaner version...
sounds like it *could* be magic!

how hard is it for them to get a message to the gathering? FUCK ALL!
how many gatherers are out hundreds of dollars?
i'm angry at this and i aren't even in with a chance of seeing them! to me,
its just disrespectful.
there may yet surface legitimate reasons, but i doubt it. and if there are
legitimate reasons, why not LET US KNOW! one paragraph, or even one big
sentence would put our minds at rest, but will they extend this nicety?
DOUBTFUL.

think i'll just download the album when it comes out.........

That is *very* cool. Imagine Killing Joke doing that... you can't? Thought not.

PS One of the millions of times I saw the Minutemen, Mike Watt was making up the setlist on posterboard in their van before the show. He said "what songs do you want to hear"? and wrote down my answers on the set list. Cool.

THe best Flag show I ever saw was in Cleveland, 1982 perhaps. My friend (who didn't like punk) and Chuck Dukowski, from a maybe foot-high stage, heckled each other in between songs. Rollins, wearing LONG and BAGGY shorts and nothing else (of course), during a slow song (Damaged II?) crawled across the floor on his stomach for about 10 minutes, thru all the spilt beer, broken glass, etc. right thru the audience, which respectfully parted. The rest of the time the audience was swaying back & forth like big waves. At another show I saw Rollins loading the drum set into the van after the gig (no big expenses like roadies). I also went backstage before the show and told Greg Ginn that I never got my "My Rules" t-shirt that I'd mail ordered. He wrote down my name and address, put it in his guitar case, and a few weeks later I got my shirt in the mail. THey really were a band-o-the-people.

Probably all the way up until Dez and Chuck Dukowski left the band. My War and every album that followed are all pretty terrible. It's not just Rollins though. I think Bill Stevenson and Kira are SO overrated in that band. I've never heard so much praise for such a stiff, awkward and boring rhythm section.

It was probably a pretty hilarious show, overall, to see wank-metal era Venom come on after Rollins and his tiny black shorts playing their shittiest songs.

I thought the, er, joke about propping Geordie up on stage was fecking hilarious. Thank God (or someone) that we have Pete West here to make us (well, me) laugh...

Aren't you being a little bit harsh? I do know this whole thing sucks big time, but what if they're having a serious problem? Some of them haven't led their lifes in the most healthiest manner...

And I don't really believe fans will not buy their albums because they cancel tours. In fact some of us have bought a shitload of albums in the last couple of years full of songs we already owned for a very long time...

I also have to say that I find this fantasy about the dead Geordie on stage extremely tasteless - even if it's meant to be a joke. It's deffo not a killing one.
I'm grateful for every KJ gig I can see. After Democracy they seemed to have quit and I was very happy to see them return and to get the opportunity to see them play again. You never know when it's over for good....
Give em a break and wait what the reasons are. You can slaughter them, if it turns out to be bullshit.

Sorry if that sounds pathetic but it's the way I feel and I had to get it off my chest.
