[kj] OT: redundancy and infuriating greed

Yes, it would make a nice little story. The college loves to have stories
in the paper although they usually involve the principal shaking hands with
the mayor. They managed to keep a story about 2 members of staff kidnapping
man and holding him hostage on campus for 5 days out of the papers

Sounds like a good idea and I hope that works out.
However, if you don't keep your job, I think you should consider going to
the local newspaper and tell them what you've told us, ie, about excessive
high-level appointments etc. A decent journalist would love a story like
that and at least you'll be making it tough for the smug tw at ts you worked
for.

Thanks for all the well wishes.
My colleague and I have decided to propose job share where we cut 50
percent of our hours saving the college the same amount of money. This will
still enable us to cover our mortgages and help us sleep at night. Well
have to see if THEY agree to it. What stupid is that we both do different
jobs with different skills, so theyd lose out if one of us left and would
end up outsourcing some of the work!
The man who is making all these decisions was recently appointed Vice
Principal from his previous position of Director of Finance. The college
has a £500k deficit. Surely this has something to do with decisions hes
been part of but all the little people are paying for his mistakes.
Sounds familiar, doesnt it?
Cheers,
Janean

My sentiments echo Folk's about Janean's situation. Really not fair to her
or the colleague.
Greed is infuriating.

Sorry to hear about your job situation, Janean.
They've been doing the same where I work. All of we plebs get furloughs and
wage decreases while the upper eschelons keep banking it.
I am now almost earning less than I did 6 years ago.

Dont know yet. Our jobs are going but they are creating new posts for
people to compete for. I will have to compete with my colleague (whos also
my best friends husband) for one new post. Theres enough work for us both
to be busy full time, but they dont see it like that of course. It doesnt
matter for the man who made that decision because hes on £75k and can sleep
pretty soundly at night.
Wankers.
Sorry for the OT moaning!
