aahh, but have you got the pakistani white label test pressing of Hosannas???
Absolute Dissent is far and away better than Hossanass.
As far as the selling I would put good money that it will out sell Hossannass. Not because it's a better album buy because of timing. Hossannass was a bit of a blurred, smoked out hungover. Kind of like Democracy.
Killing Joke is in vogue again. You can debate why.
I own two CDs and a single of hossannass
2 CDs and three singles and 1 pic disc of 2003
3 versions of democracy
3 versions of pandemonium with a bunch of Cd singles
Etc etc etc etc etc
Schmuck? Yes

I heard recently that Hosannas sold only 20,000 copies worldwide.
I bought 3 of them!!! Uk and Japanese CDs plus uk vinyl.
Think 2003 did 100k. But I don't think it's 5 times better!
This album will do ok though I think. Better distribution and a higher profile.

I really do like Hosannas even more than I do like 2003... I never quite understood what most of you dislike about the album... also I do love Democracy as a whole.
I'm not one to love mindlessly whatever a band I like does, but KJ never, and I mean NEVER let me down.

Opinions about Hosannas Vs 2003 are very polarised on the Gathering, I think, and I've got a feeling that the new album will be the album to unite us more. It will be at least the second favourite for everyone out of the three albums, I reckon.

Hosanna's was rough. Rough to my ears, hysterical stuff. But still, the song Hosanna's and Tribal Antidote? Still play them joyously.
I have a confession to make. I did not like the new EP when I heard it on Youtube. Sounded like they were doing impressions of their old selves, as is kinda said by Peter below. But then I kept playing Endgame and the old magic was there. Something about the rasp of the guitars as it starts, and they come in after breaks in the song. I'm bouncing along to Jaz.
I think what we want is for the boys to come up with something new in the same genre/way as their most, well, KILLING ****ING JOKE ALBUMS. Killing Joke 2003, Firedancers, Empire Song era, Money is not our God style etc. Never know, it may be waiting in Absolute Dissent? Like I said in my last email. If they were Linkin Park it would be uniformly effective, predictable, functional product. But KJ is real stuff, so they will always be a bit hit and miss? Maybe they should be?

Some of 2003 was very good but Hosannas is quite underwhelming. Some of the new stuff seems to borrow from some of the old riffs but they are the ones that have been done to death. They lack the dramatic structure of Revelations and Extremities for example.
