They played ESS in NYC and Pontiac and it was great. They dumped In Excelsis by Pontiac. They played it fine in NYC but youth kind Peter Brady (ala time to change/puberty song) the vocals.
Some of their songs won't work live. You can tell on each record which ones were written and tested in a working living band scenario. First three. EDaVRE and Hosannas.
Where as the rest have a studio vibe to it.
Hard to explain. Maybe it's because I've been in bands in those scenarios and pick up on it.
