What an evening.

I arrived in time to catch a bit of Junkie Brush.  At first sight I thought they were Headcount, as they featured a large bald bloke on guitar.  They seemed pretty good ("Better than us" to quote at least 2 out of 3 members of Headcount at various points in the evening.) but I missed most of their set...

Stef from Headcount had warned me that Headcount were going to be shit, but actually they played a blinder, mixed in with the usual banter with the audience.  And Rob dedicated a song to our very own Dave Wright.  If last night was anything to go by, the new album should be a bit good, right...

Vertical Smile.... honestly?  If they didn't include Youth, I wouldn't be interested.  I really rated Transmission (who were awesome live... especially as at that point I'd never seen the original Joke rhythm section on stage together, and never thought I would) but VS don't especially do it for me.  Last night, however, they really feckin rocked.  And then, towards the end of the set, who should join them on stage but Mark Stewart!  He did one track, and then got down and was replaced by... Zodiac Mindwarp.  Blimey.

As I said to Colesy afterwards - Mark Stewart and Zodiac Mindwarp on stage with the same band in one evening - it could only be Malicious Damage.

So, another top night out.  Great to see various gatherers again (cast in order of appearance: Paul R, Carl, Dave W plus friends, Antoni) along with the Headcount boys and of course the great Mike Coles.
