I just lost my Mum in law same time, last Thursday.  Same age too.  Natural causes, nothing dramatic.
 
I definitely pass my humble condolences.  In fact, no words.

Horrified. In tears. So terribly, dreadfully sorry for your loss of your dear elderly father, Dave. My father too is now elderly and trying to put my feet in your shoes and comprehend the way you feel is just too awful.
 
Please take strength knowing that the thoughts and prayers of all Gatherers are with you. And thank you for having the courage to share with us.
